I have been in a monagamous relationship for 30 years. I had unprotected sex with a woman about 5 months ago. I have had no abnormal symtoms to this date. I decided to have an STD check and received a positive result for HSV2. Two weeks later I had myself retested at anther lab and the result was less than .91 negative. The first test was 1.21 IgG antibody. Am I infected or hopefully this a false positive? do you recommend the Western Blot? Or should I get a third antibody test?
I definitely do NOT think you should get another test. You are hovering around the positive-negative place and I do think the western blot would likely clear up the issue for you. If you test again, it is still going to not be clear, I don’t think.
Is the woman someone that you could ask to be tested?
Terri
Yes, I can ask the woman to be tested. If she is neg would you still do the Western Blot? If need be can I get the Western Blot done long distance through your clinic?
Well, if she is negative, then you know that you didn’t get it from her. Do you care if you have it if you didn’t get it from her?
We can definitely arrange for the blot easily to be drawn where you are, yes.
Terri
Please let me know how to arrange for the Western Blot Lon distance.
Just call the clinic at the number on the website and set up an appointment to talk with me. I can order it in the area in which you live. I do these phone consultations on Tuesday and Thursday. If you have more questions, you can ask me then.
