Yes, the results were always negative for trichomonas, chlamydia and gonorrhea but before I had much more pronounced symptoms. HSV 2 was negative and HSV1 antibodies increased. That is the only change so that is my reason for asking any correlation bw HSV 1 and vulvodynia in the question before but the symptoms mostly went away with two antibiotics. My question is why did I have symptoms on the outside of my vagina and butt and negative results? Is it because I got some skin infection since I brushed with the towel and was not having sex so that is why I did not have discharge for the results to pick that up? The point is that the majority of my symptoms (intense burning in this area) responded first to metronidazole and then residual symptoms (a warm feeling or fever in my vagina and butt & decreased burning intensity that seems like an inflammation response) responded to azithromycin especially when sitting down so I am highly suspicious that it was something bacterial. I am not making things up! I had vulvodynia symptoms that went on for about a year and they did not improve until I first took metronidazole and then azithromycin. Why doesn’t anybody believe me? The most frustrating thing is because the “evidence” is not there, I do not get diagnosed, and I went on like that with unbearable symptoms first until I took metronidazole and then annoying symptoms until I took azithromycin for about a year and half and I always took fluconazoles after. Now for the recent residuals I tried fluconazole and that does not help so I am thinking the remaining symptoms are residuals of those bacterial strains. The inside of the skin of my buttcheeks feels like there is burning very slightly when I am sitting down. I will try one more fluconazole but if that does not work then should I think again that intensity of that burning decreased because it responded to medicine somehow? Is that complete nonsense or what else should I attribute this to? Vulvodynia should not respond to antibiotics because isnt it nerve related? Thanks

I’m not suggesting for even a moment that you are making things up. If the antibiotics made things better then it was likely something bacterial if you got better with antibiotic treatment. But wait – you took azithromycin for a year and one half? Is that a typo? I’m sorry but I have no idea what might be going on here. I doubt that any bacteria would survive a very long duration of azithro. Vulvodynia only describes pain in the area – it does not address the cause.

No, I meant I had symptoms & did not know what it was because I was not given a diagnosis. They just said ‘deal with it’ or gave me a clindamycin cream or said you have nothing because the results are negative for an entire year. But I kept complaining so finally a year later I tried metronidazole. June 2016 is when the symptoms started because that is when I shared the infected towel & it was not until May 2017 when I tried metronidazole that I got some major relief (I tried two weeks of metronidazole and fluconazoles). After that I still had symptoms but they were not unbearable as before but still annoying such as a warm feeling or fever/heat in my vagina and butt & the burning intensity had decreased but was still there and all of this is cyclical or intermittent as in it goes away & my vagina feels 100% normal for part of the day & then it would return making me think it is an inflammation response. So then I tried doxycycline in October 2017 from a dermatologist to see if that would work & it helped (I did 2 weeks of that & diflucans after) but then I felt it did what it could and that was as much as it would help. So then I assumed it was chlamydia and wanted to try a different antibiotic and requested the proper one for that which is azithromycin (6 months after metronidazole in December 2017- I did 2 wks & diflucans as always). The azithromycin was much more effective than the doxycycline & metronidazole in getting rid of 99% of symptoms. The metronidazole got rid of 90%, the doxycycline up to 95% & the azithromycin got rid of 99% of symptoms & then the improvement plateaued. I have residuals so I still take amitriptyline & I think that is helping but it is not as annoying as before. Now I can live without the amitriptyline but sometimes especially when sitting down, I feel a sort of sunburn feeling underneath the skin of my buttcheeks. It seems like its an internal feeling, not like the discharge from the vagina is burning. Does that make sense? Thoughts?

I’m sorry, I have no thoughts here about what this might be. If you believe that you have an untreated STI like gonorrhea that you mentioned, you should return for testing.

Now I am thinking of trying vancomycin or daptomycin for MRSA in case it is a skin infection like cellulitis. No visible symptoms of redness though, just the warm to the touch and sunburn feeling in buttocks sometimes. Either daptomycin or vancomycin are given by IV. I can try that for 7 days and see if a dermatologist will give this to me. There is also an oral pill to take if doctors will not provide injections: sivextro. And if that does not work I can try rocephin maybe for a few days. Given the history of response to antibiotics above, should I try the rocephin first and then the daptomycin or first daptomycin and then rocephin? What do you think? I think rocephin might treat MRSA and gonorrhea as well if that is the case and so maybe I should try that first since it is more comprehensive. Thanks

Wow, I hope you have someone managing all of this for you. Or perhaps you are a physician. At any rate, this is all out of my area of expertise.
