Hey Terri. I want to start out by saying that I know for a fact I have herpes.I believe hsv1. Doctors don’t believe me because of the unusual symptoms. 3 days after exposure I felt a tingling sensation in my vagina,4th day I woke up with sore throat running nose and swollen lymph nodes in neck. I’m still feeling the tingling sensation it like it moving around down there and it comes and goes throughout the day.tingling sensation won’t go always it gets more intense and then I start to feel intense itching in my vagina. I also want to point on that I felt tingling in my mouth and upper lip and my upper lip had some redness but the it went away that same day. I was expecting an outbreak but it never came. I also never had a blister or bumps down there either just prondome symptoms that lasted for a long time. I also have white coated tongue that I can’t get rid of! And for the last two months I been coughing up mucus but I’m not sick. Could this be herpes esophagitis? I been too several doctors and all of them are saying it not herpes which doesn’t make sense. I also got tested for hsv1 and 2 at 7 weeks post exposure and test still come up negative. I believe test are not picking it up because I don’t have enough antibodies. Can you please let me know if you know someone with a herpes cause like mines? When will tingling sensation stop? Will I have an outbreak soon? Why I can’t get rid of my white coated tongue? What should I do? Should I start taking herpes medince? Sorry for all the question willing to pay extra I just want answers and your advice. Sorry for lengthy post.

So did you have positive herpes swab test, is that how you “know for a fact I have herpes.”? Because your antibody tests are negative. It is true that that the IgG test misses 30% of HSV 1 – is that why you think you have HSV 1 or is there some other reason for that assumption?
When people tell me that their main symptoms is tingling, probably 95% or more of the time, their western blot is negative at least for HSV 2 – because about 50% of the population has HSV 1, that is not as clear. Not one of the symptoms you have described makes me think that you have herpes, without anything else – like a positive antibody test or a sore. So I guess you must have swab tested positive for HSV because you know for a fact that you have herpes.
If you don’t have a positive swab test for herpes and you are just positive in your head that you have herpes, then I don’t even know what to say about that. I am here to help people learn if they truly do have herpes by recommending certain tests or to help people who actually have a lab test that says that they have herpes to learn to cope with this infection.
I’m not here to argue with anyone. If you believe that you have herpes, then go ahead and see if someone will prescribe medicine to you without a lab diagnosis. But if you ever do want a better test to know if you actually do truly have this infection, the antiviral medication could impact that testing.
