Always negative HSV1 and HSV2

Aug 2022 had my test and both also negative

1) had unprotected sex with my ex she was positive for HSV1 and I wasn’t. I saw her results with my own eyes. This was in Aug only we had sex twice

2) had unprotected sex with another girl in Dec 4. She claimed she got tested but I never saw it and not sure what she got tested for. She did tell me she did tell me
She didn’t have herpes but not sure if she knows if she does or not. She said she got tested recently and her doctor said she’s all good. Again we don’t know if herpes was part of that panel or not.

HSV 1 and 2 negative in Aug
HSV 2 on 1/10 (37 days after last encounter and only was 1.08 equivocal)

The lab told me this might be a recent exposure or a false positive. Having had sex with this girl on Dec 4 unprotected and not knowing her status has made me think I got HSV from her. Please tell me your detailed thoughts on this please

I have read that sometimes HSV2 is a false positive for HSV1. Could they be the case? This was an IGG test not an IGM

They want me to schedule a confirmatory test. Is this test accurate at this point of time? Not sure what confirmatory it is.

What is the likelihood that I am HSV2 vs HSV1? When I asked the lab this question they said this was specific for HSV2 not HSV1 so it’s either positive or negative but not positive for HSV1. Let me know your thoughts please

Last question. What is the likely hood I have HSV2 as a recent exposure to my Dec 4 interaction while it was unprotected?

To be clear, you do not test positive, you test in the equivocal range, which only very rarely comes back as positive on the confirmatory western blot. I hope you do not do any other confirmatory tests as they can be falsely positive. However, you did have an unprotected encounter pretty close to the date of your testing so you may wish to repeat the test to be more certain
