My western blot came back negative. I mailed it in Thursday evening and I’m not sure when they got it. Could have been Monday. Have you ever heard of blood sitting over the weekend leading to an abnormal result or do they confirm the blood is still viable. I did send it with ice but that was probably good for 24 hours.
No, and if they got it on Friday, the would have refrigerated the sample until the run the following week. You can be confident about the result.

I read that you have had 9 patients who were positive via a PCR test but negative on the western blot in your 32 years of practice. This implies the western blot is very accurate for HSV2. How many people have you seen with HSV1 that were positive with PCR but negative for the western blot? Also, is there any valve to repeating the western blot or will you just get the same results.
Thanks
I don’t have the data on HSV 1. There would be no point in repeating the western blot unless you had a recent infection and had not yet seroconverted.
