Hi Terri,
1. Being from the U.K. how do i get a western blot test and how does it work -is it something i order. Do i take my own blood sample and ship it back?
2. Please could you share the costs?
3. *MOST IMPORTANT BULLET POINT* I’m desperate at the moment and it would be a great help if you could you suggest if there are any good accurate alternatives test to use in the U.K with great accuracy?
4. Say if the results come back positive for either HSv1, Hsv2 – does that mean i definitely have it or just been exposed to the virus.
5. I was wondering if it any such test could clarify whether you have it genitally or not.
I know herpes is not routinely tested/screened for in the U.K. but being a vicim of rape (vaginally and anally) plus going through rigorous testing for all STI’s/ STD’s and virtually all have come back negative, it leads me to believe my symptoms are as a result of herpes.
– bleeding between period (Initially)
– constant tingling for months since the incident – in my bottom and vagina. (sometimes they stop but not for long before coming back).
– muscle aches and pains in legs initially after the exposure (that lasted many many weeks)
– more often than not – tinging shooting pains in my vagina.
-swelling
– numbness and extreme sensitivity.
As you can see – many of my symptoms are nerve related and despite not being able to detect any ulcers/spots, does not mean that I do not have it. I have heard of several people who have this disease and have no lesions/spots/ulcers but only prodrome.
6. But ultimately I need the hard hitting truth whether you think it is herpes. As doctors have not prescribed me anything (as they cannot detect any herpetic spots or ulcers) and as a result i’ve been suffering on and off for 8 months. My experience has been debilitating and humiliating.
I work with a woman in the UK to get the western blots done here in the US. We would need to have a video consult first and then I can hook you up with her. The costs of the test itself and consult with me is $325 US dollars, but I don’t know the cost of visiting with her for the blood draw or the shipping. She could tell you all of that.
Terri
