If my index value went from 2 to 5 should I get the western blot?
I’ll be more detailed . I had an igg done and was 2.5 I went back because I thought this can’t be right. The second was 5.5. HSV1 was 26 and went to 33. I’ve never had a cold sore or outbreak. Is it worth doing the western blot? Doctors act like I should just accept it.
I have definitely seen false positives at 5 and far higher. A blot would clarify this concer3n.
is it possible that you were recently infected and the reason your index value is going higher?

Is it possible for antibodies to show up a week after exposure? I thought it would take time.
Thank you for your response
Also I was told that because I haven’t had a breakout there’s know way of knowing when I got this.
A week is too soon after an encounter to have an index value of 5. But you could have been infected long ago and are just demonstrating a substantial index value. If your antibody test is correct, there is no way to know when you got this, correct.
