You mentioned getting the Western BLot test from UW and having you order the test and using a bay area lab to do the blood draw. I’ve seen on the site you quote the cost for you ordering the test and UW fee is $314. When signing up for E conference is that the total cost or is there an additional $80 charge first. I know on the site it says for E conference there is an $80 charge. ALso on UW paperwork they list their prices and theres some mention about a price for a re-test if it’s indeterminate. WIth that do you have to go through the whole process again? We’ve never tested at all, just a little confused.
Also, if test is truly positive with WB test, which daily anti viral is better for suppressive therapy daily to not spread to negative partner. Acyclovir or Valacyclovir? How many MG. for Valacyclovir, 500 mg or 1 gram?
The consult and actual test cost total is $314. The $80 is included in the $314.
If your test results is indeterminate, you would need to retest in 3 months for test clarity. I get indeterminates about 8% of the time, mostly in people with low positive IgG results.
For someone infected with HSV 2, both acyclovir and valacyclovir work well, but acyclovir dose is twice per day and valacyclovir is twice per day (and usually cheaper. 500 mg once a day for valacyclovir and 400 mg twice a day for acyclovir when taken daily
