Backstory: new partner unprotected sex in Jan-Beg of Feb. I got an STD test and was negative for everything, except herpes wasn’t part of the battery.
New Partner in April, engaged in rough sex a lot and mid-April went to gyno with my inner labia torn, red and there was a white mark, ulcer, rubbing, I don’t know what to call it. Negative swab for herpes. Then it happened again in May. Not everytime we had sex, but this time it was like the first time. Again, negative swab and now negative IGG blood work. Fast forward to 6/30, had very vigorous sex, probably wasn’t lubricated enough as I have had a partial hysterectomy and I am 45. Went to the gyno on 7/2. He took another culture. Feedback kindly requested. I am scared, emotional and worried. Please help me.

Sorry, I’ve been taking a little time off on the holiday weekend and only answering question periodically.
This does look like herpes to me, but it could be something else. It does NOT look like Fordyce spots, no. Did the doctor think this look like herpes? Are they using culture or PCR to do the swab testing? The recurrent nature of this is what concerns me the most. Are you taking antiviral medicine?Terri

Yes the doc did say it looked like herpes this time, but last time it did not! This visit I was also inflamed and rubbed raw. I was not given antiviral, he wants to see me Thursday. I have a history of vulvadynia. He did not say what test they would use. I know sometimes visual diagnosis is not always correct, so he was perplexed. Since I was negative in April and May with both culture and bloodwork if this is herpes, was it the guy in Feb or April? Can you even tell that? What else could it be?

So you were negative for HSV 1 and 2 or just two? The screening test misses about 25% of HSV 1 infections so it could be HSV 1 and the test missed it. The western blot is far better at picking up HSV 1 infection. Our clinic can order that for you if you want it. I could not tell you which partner this might have come from, no. Without actually seeing it I could not say what else it might be. Have you also been tested for syphilis?
Yes, you have exhausted your current round of questions. Please find out from your doctor if you had culture or PCR done for the swab test. The PCR is far more sensitive.
