I am 25 yr old Male. Had two protected sexual encounters with a 23 yr old female. Performed oral on her both times and the first time the condom broke but I quickly replaced it. First encounter was about 8 weeks ago second encounter was. About. 3 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I had about a week long. Head cold with a sore throat. Last week I engaged in a bought of rough masturbation due to lack of lubrication. This left abrasions on the head of my penis a d one small blister on the ridge of the head. These healed quickly and nicely is about 3 to 4 days. Did not experience any pain, itching, oozing or fever during this process. Last night the female I had sex with contacted me to tell me she had been informed her ex boyfriend of 6 months(they broke. Up in march) had tested positive for hsv2.she wenth for testing and also tested positive. My questions are 1. What are the chances I contracted the virus 2. Were the abrasions on my penis a case of cruel coincidence or should I suspect them to be an outbreak? 3.I have read that blood testing is not reliable until 4 months, should. I still go in and see the doc or wait? Thank you so. Much for this service.
If the condom was used most of the time, that’s a good thing. If you were my patient, I would recommend that you get a baseline HSV 2 test now and retest in 12-16 weeks. If you test negative now and positive in 12-16 weeks, you will know that this is new infection. The actual blister that you describe does worry me some. Also, not everyone who acquires herpes takes 12-16 weeks to become positive – that is the longest you should have to wait until you can count on the testing. You can also order these tests (IgG for HSV 1 and 2 only) online without a doctor’s order. There are many websites that offer this service.
