Hello Terri,
I have some confusing results and would like to know what to do next. I did a home STD test through Mylab box on 5/23/2023. It did not test for HSV1. It came back “positive” for HSV2, negative for everything else. I asked for the value and they provided it a couple days later informing me it is a .083. I will provide their reference range below. I saw on the document that they report all weakly positive results as positive so I guess that’s me.
I have never had any symptoms and have never been exposed as far as I know.
I know now that these home tests are not very reliable but I’m curious what my changes of actually having HSV2 would be.
I will probably still do the western blot for peace of mind but curious for your input.
Thank you so much
Mylab box reference range:
Negative:
≤ 0.590
Equivocal:
0.591 – < 0.600
Weakly Positive:
0.600 – < 1.000
Positive:
≥ 1.000
I think it is very likely that you aren’t infected with HSV 2 but you are correct that the blot is your best bet at this point.
Terri
