Hi, Mrs. Terri Warren –
I recently got two tests done over the past month or so. The first results were negative for HSV1 and positive for HSV2 (1.30) [via Quest]. I got retested about a week ago and my results are now positive HSV1 and HSV2 (2.71 & 3.23) [LabQuest] The confirmatory test for HSV2 was negative, as well. (My doctor did not notify me of that when she stated my results) I have no symptoms of either and I’m so confused how I could have either. My last sexual rendezvous was approximately eight months ago. Wouldn’t the scores have been higher by now? Also, is there any way possible that HSV2 could affect an HSV1 result or does that only work the other way around. I’ve went ahead and ordered the Western Blot today, as I’m so confused by these results. Is there any advice or input you could give me on this issue? Maybe why my values are so strange? Thank you so much!

I have no idea what to make of those results, honestly, they are so all over the place and your contact was sufficiently long enough ago to make any sense of at all. You clearly need the blot for clarification. I wouldn’t believe any of this right now without a better test. And do you mean Quest or LabCorp? I don’t know what labQuest is?

Hi Mrs. Terri! Thank you so much for replying!
I’m sorry about that, the first test I took was done by Quest and the latest one was LabCorp. I’ve even spoken to my last partner and she tested negative for everything in January 2022 (3 to 4 months after our encounter) and gets tested regularly. We used a condom and didn’t kiss often. I’m thoroughly confused and stressed out.1) Would I still be able to set up an appointment with you even though I’ve already called and ordered the WB?
2) Both of these values appear to be in the low positive range. How likely are these to be false positives?
3) Do you happen to know if there’s anything different between Quest and LabCorp? Anything that would have my values jump up like that in a month? (with no further contact with anyone)

Yes, of course. Someone will need to be order that for you and I can do that.2) Both of these values appear to be in the low positive range. How likely are these to be false positives?
Very likely!3) Do you happen to know if there’s anything different between Quest and LabCorp? Anything that would have my values jump up like that in a month? (with no further contact with anyone)
They use different IgG tests but I don’t know specifically why they would be so different, no.Terri
