OK, well, in summary, both you and your partner have HSV 1 as well as 56% of the US population between 14-49. There is nothing that you both need to do in terms of that infection since you are both infected. If either of you have an outbreak, you can treat it with oral antiviral medicine if you wish to shorten the duration of the outbreak. Since you don’t know if your infection is really oral or genital, you can keep an eye out in both locations for symptoms.
