Has your son been tested for HSV antibody? That is important in knowing what to do next. A western blot this early is probably not a good idea. Too early. If your son has HSV 1 infection either orally or genitally, and he gave her oral sex, this could result in genital HSV 1 infection. Also, something is odd that both her HSV 1 and HSV 2 are exactly the same value. I’ve never seen that before – not that it is’t possible, I’ve just never seen it. Are you sure? Did you see it? Could she be misreading the lab result? I would recommend testing for your son and then repeat testing for her in about 2-3 months.
Most Americans are strongly positive for EBV. I’m not thinking that is what is going on here but it isn’t impossible.
