You are positive for HSV 1 but we have no idea where your HSV 1 infection is since your PCR was positive. Most HSV 1 is oral, not genital but it could be either. If neither you nor your husband have had any other partners in 5 years, there is simply no need to do anything different or test for anything else.
I don’t think you need retesting at all. You are HSV 1 positive, period. There are no other tests that you need to take.
If you can’t know if you have ever had a cold sore, then it is possible that the genital sores were herpes, but it is also possible they were not. No way to know for certain, but if you get another lesion, you might want to get it tested right away.
