I’m a mom with an almost 2 and a half year old and a new born baby. My 2.5 year old had a small dot pop up 4 days ago then by lunch same day it looked like a tiny ‘raw’ scratch/patch (3mm) then by midnight that same night it was a tiny scab (around 3 mm) scab fell off around 7-8 hours later then went back to tiny scratch/patch and again then another tiny scab that lasted about 8 hours again then just looked a tiny scratch/ patch that’s nearly completely healed back to normal skin. it was always around tiny 3 mm in size, not ‘crusty’, not painful and also from start to finish was total 4 days. She’s Never had coldsore virus and I don’t have it either (I’ve been tested 10+ times and a western blot) but her fathers family do get coldsores. I Had a doctor swab it at around 30 hours when it was ‘raw scratch/patch ‘ and test was a microbiology NAT swab. Came back negative for all -HSV 1 and 2 and vzv.
1) could this be hsv virus ?
2) I’m so upset doctor didn’t do pcr- what’s a microbiology NAT swab?
3) is this microbiology NAT swab as accurate as Pcr?
It’s heartbreaking for my girl and also heartbreaking for her bonding with her new baby brother . I am closely monitoring to make sure to avoid face. My heart is crying for my babies. Please tell me honestly your thoughts.
Thanks Terri, Kind regards.
