If his HSV 2 test number is great than 5, then that is a firm diagnosis. He does not need further testing.
He is NOT vulnerable to your HSV 1 infection and any outbreaks that you have don’t matter to him. The chances of him acquiring HSV 1 from you are less than 1 in 55,000. However, if you are having sex with him twice per week with no antiviral therapy taken by him and no condom use, there is a 10% chance in a year that you will acquire his HSV 2 infection. If he takes daily antiviral therapy and uses condoms, you can get that number down to 2-3% chance in a year that you will acquire his HSV 2.
