Got it….thank you. As a matter of full disclosure, about 2 1/2 years ago I had unprotected intercourse with a female co-worked on 3 occasions over a 4 to 5 week period. I became concerned and was tested for STD. I’m not sure but maybe it was Elisa test. Everything came back negative including HSV-1 but positive for HSV-2 with an IGG 1.62. I ceased all sexual activity and after doing a lot of research about false positives on low readings I waited 4 months and had a Western Blot at U of W which came back negative. While I was elated and I have heard it is the “gold standard” of testing I was worried “what if…” and I have continued to refrain from sexual activity with anyone the last two plus years with the exception of 4 maybe 5 visits to a massage parlor. Those visits, except this last time, had no other sexual contact other than a hand job at the end. So how reliable is the Western Blot???? If I ever had a Elisa test again, I would assume it would still read low-positive for HSV-2?
Thank you
