With no lesions present (pimple on scrotum I don’t think counts), herpes is low on my list of worries. So many people describe tingling and burning in the genital area but in my experience, the vast majority who report no lesions but only these sensations, test negative by antibody test, including the gold standard western blot.
The likelihood of contracting HSV 2 by giving someone oral sex is very low – HSV 2 doesnt’ like the oral area and though I have seen cases of oral HSV 2, they are rare.
What would you swab? I think if you are still concerned, an IgG blood antibody test is the best one. If you test at 6 weeks out and are negative, there is a 70% chance a final draw at 12 weeks would also be negative.
Yes, very strange indeed.
