It’s hard to say about the rash but a herpes lesion would not last 3 months. However, herpes scarring could last that long. I hope you will continue to try to download the picture. I have asked our webmaster to try to allow for larger pictures files in the meanwhile as I am certain you aren’t the only one troubled by this restriction.
If the rash that came up today is not painful and does not itch and does not have blisters, what does it look like? Can you get a picture of that?
The chances of getting herpes in the two day sexual encounter depend totally on if he was shedding at that time. Honestly, I don’t think your first herpes outbreak would be on your thigh and it would have shown up most likely within 2-10 days of the encounter. Of course you might have HSV 2 yourself, separate from him and then recurrences could be on your thigh. Sure wish I could see that picture!
It is totally inaccurate that people who have HSV 1 infection have a reduced risk of getting HSV 2. The only circumstance in which that would be true, and we aren’t even sure of this, is the person who has HSV 1 genitally MAY have less risk of acquiring HSV 2 genitally due to cellular immune response minimal protection in that area.
I don’t think you are overreacting at all. Your partner most certainly has HSV 2 and you are at risk of acquiring it, if your test is negative for HSV 2. However, if your exposure is only two days, regardless of the frequency of sex, it seems somewhat unlikely that you would have acquired this with only a thigh symptom.
