With most vaccine trials, you can’t drop into town get a vaccine and leave. Our subjects have to be seen within 24 hours for any outbreaks, for example, all during a year long study, and they have to come in every couple of weeks to drop off swabs and have blood draws. It is quite a commitment, in other words, and not something you could do through a visit some place. It is not possible to get the vaccine before it is released, at least not the US one.
If you are worried about stopping the pill and having outbreaks, you can take the Valtrex at least until you are pregnant and some OB’s prescribe it now all through pregnancy but that will vary from person to person.
