Hi there,
Thank you so much for your answers and clarity. I was diagnosed via a PCR swab of the genital sores which came back positive for HSV-1 (and negative for HSV-2). My boyfriend got a blood-test Friday aka day five (my fever symptoms started previous Monday aka day 1), and his HSV-1 number was 13.60 which his dermatologist said is indicative of having been exposed but not necessarily recently.
My last question is, how do I know when an outbreak is over and I am able to have sex? I feel fine now, 13 days after the fever started and 11 days after starting Valtrex, but my boyfriend and I tried to have (protected) sex on the 9th day and it felt a bit uncomfortable and there was a milky/bloody looking discharge. My sores are inside my vaginal canal, so I don’t see anything, and I didn’t feel anything until we tried to have penetrative sex.
Thank you again for this resource.
