So I made the trip to Seattle and I got my blot results last week:
Positive for HSV-1 and NEGATIVE for HSV-2!!!
I am so relieved yet almost can’t believe it. Can I fully trust the blot and that I don’t have HSV-2?
I would really like to move forward from this trauma once and for all. I don’t even want to have sex with anyone due to all the stress and anxiety this caused me. I also want to take my blot results to Planned Parenthood and my PCP so that it’s on my record that I don’t have HSV-2. It’s so upsetting how these IGG test can give inaccurate results and even more maddening that providers don’t care to learn about the blot (like mine) and help patients get it.
As for HSV-1, it’s looking like I may have it orally. I found what I think was a cold sore inside my nose on 1/30. It did look like a cluster of pimples/blisters but it didn’t hurt too much. It was at the base of the left side of the columella?/cartilage. Is that a common spot where HSV-1 would appear in the nose?
Lastly, to anyone reading this post, please don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself. My providers were useless and I’m so thankful for this forum and your knowledge Terri!!!! This really was a major part in keeping me somewhat sane these past 15 months so thank you!!
