1) I had my first OB at the end of November. It was mild rash that cleared up in a week. I started taking antivirals because i didn’t want to experience another OB as it was emotionally difficult for me. I had another small bump down there that cleared up in a 3 days in January, and now i am currently experiencing a pretty bad OB. I thought taking antivirals is supposed to prevent OB? I know with GHSV1 after the initial OB, some experience 1-2 OB between 1-2 years and after 2 years most people don’t have recurrent OB. Do you think after this current OB, there is a chance that i will not experience another OB? The reason i started antiviral is so i don’t have OB so i am a bit concerned that the medication isn’t working for me. Should i go off antivirals to see the natural course of the disease?
How much antiviral medicine are you taking and which one?
How were you diagnosed with HSV 1 genital infection? Was an antibody test done at the time, a swab, both?
2) In regard to antibodies to prevent contractions OHSV1, with me on antivirals i know i will slowly develop antibodies. how long do you think this will take? a year? 2 years?
That’s difficult to say – it could be a long time.
3) I am currently seeing a someone and i am scared of passing it to him. i know with antivirals it is rare but not impossible, and ever more difficult to pass it from female to male. i would never have sex or have him perform oral sex on me during an OB! But if we were to have unprotected sex and he performed oral sex on me(I know HSV1 likes the mouth), what are the chances of me passing this on during an OB- will i definitely pass it? without an OB, but shedding?
We don’t have any data on transmission of genital HSV 1. We do know it is rare indeed, but we have no specifics at all. You should find out if your current partner is already infected with HSV 1 – about the population has this virus so very common.
5)Diabetes and HSV1. Any research on this? Cure anytime soon?
I am not aware of any data in this question
6) I notice i develop rashes behind my ears before an OB and during. Is this common with viral infection? is this a sign of an OB instead of a tingling sensation?
I’ve never heard of anything like this before. Have you had the rash swab tested for HSV?
