If someone who is HSV 2 negative gives you oral sex, there is a small risk of transmission to the mouth.If he got infected, it would be HSV 2 because that’s what you (might) have.
I think there is probably a small chance that this is a false positive, but it is possible. I’ve definitely seen false positives at this index value, and also much higher.
Do you have a regular partner? Has that person been tested?
Condoms reduce transmission by 65% and if you are infected and take daily Valtrex, that reduces transmission by 50%, so you can get the numbers to be very low indeed. If you are going to do the blot, I think I would recommend that you wait to start medicine until you have that blood drawn, which you can do anytime now. I would also strongly recommend that your partner be tested if they have not been already.
