Well, I think HSV 2 infection is unlikely given a negative swab and negative IgG test. Our study showed the IgG test misses HSV 2 infections, compared to western blot, is 8% of the time.
I think it probably is very expensive to send a western blot to the US but I have people in the UK doing it pretty often. We have a woman in London who handles all those details.
It’s your call, but from the way you describe your state of mind around this issue and your inability to function day to day, I would think it would be a no-brainer to get the blot, regardless of cost.
