I am working with several patients who collect their swabs at home and send them to me and I send them to Quest for PCR testing. Or you can certainly work with your own provider to get these swabs and do them in your own city. My patients have found it very helpful to do this and sort out if the symptoms they are having are related to HSV or not. But it is expensive – each PCR swab is $125 and samples must be shipped back to me, which is not expensive.
