First of all, it’s nice your husband isn’t worried about HSV 1, but I do think it would be the kindest thing for him to do FOR YOU, not for him, to test.
– should i be concerned at all about shedding and autoinoculation since I’ve had it for 40yrs?
NO!
– of course, i wouldn’t kiss or do anything if i had an actual sore but if my husband is so apathetic about it, do i need to be worried about viral shedding and passing it on to him? I’m curious what are the chances i would give it to him with no store present?
We don’t have data on asymptomatic shedding of oral HSV 1, but we know it happens. If you’ve been giving him oral sex and kissing him for years, there is certainly a chance that he already has it.
– if the virus hasn’t presented on my eyeball but just in the skin around my eye, is it safe to say it’s unlikely to ever affect my eyeball? With or without suppressive therapy?
No, that is not safe to say. But so glad to hear you are on suppression! That likely will go a very long way to protecting your vision.
– should women be concerned about makeup brushes spreading the virus around other parts of their face? Do i need to throw out my chapstick if i get a cold sore but I’m the only one who ever uses it?
No and NO.
