Absolutely. We have some new data showing the extremely low shedding rates in people with HSV 1 genital infection. After two years of being infected, the shedding rate is about 4 days out of an entire year.
Would you trust relying only on valcyclovir in this instance to prevent transmission? (Of course doubling up with condoms + med is best but I’d like to go without condoms sometimes while still wanting to protect my partner best I can.
