And sorry to post late, I have had COVID and haven’t been working much at all.
Good to know that your swab was positive for HSV 1.
your IgG test could be negative for one of two reasons: 1) this is new infection and you’ve not yet made antibody or 2) the IgG test misses HSV 1 infection 30% of the time so it may well have missed a standing infection. If you repeat the IgG in 6 weeks and are positive, you will know which of these is accurate if the test is now positive
Has your partner been tested? If he is also positive for HSV 1, he could certainly have given you this via oral sex. If he is negative, he is either uninfected or the test is missing an infection in him.
Transmission doesn’t happen necessarily right away in a sexual relationship.
