First, you said the diagnosis was made by culture – was it also typed to determine that it was HSV 2?
I would say that if you tested negative by IgG test between March and May, it is likely that the whitlow is your first infection. If it was an IgM test, we can’t really know. So do you know that the person from whom you acquired this has HSV 2? And you put your fingers in their genital area?
