I have had people test positive on the IgG test at 17 and did not confirm on the western blot. The IgG tests are deeply flawed. I think you need a herpes western blot and you can work with your own provider or with me to get that test. I simply do not agree with your doctor on this one. And neither does the CDC. It’s clear that there can be false positives on the IgG test, even at numbers far higher than the cutoff for Low positives.
If you are infected and it is well established, that is you’ve had it for more than four months, you are very unlikely to get it at a new location on your body.
