I can understand how this must be very difficult for you.
Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip? If yes, that could be why your HSV 1 is positive.
Your HSV 2 is out of the low positive range, but I have definitely seen false positives in this range. However, it is concerning.
If you are having outbreaks that you believe are herpes, probably the easiest thing to do is to get one swab tested when it is fresh and new. If the swab test is negative, you may wish to complete the herpes western blot to know if you are actually infected with HSV 2. The HSV 1 is definitely a true positive.
When people go through menopause, they sometimes do begin to have more issues with a herpes infection.
So what is your concern right now? ARe you thinking that you would like to start having sex again? Is your husband aware of your situation? Please tell me your most pressing concern right now. If outbreaks are your main concern, you could start taking daily antiviral medicine to reduce the frequency of outbreaks as well as reducing the risk of transmission, but if your husband is truly uninfected now, it is unlikely that he will now become infected.
