– Does anything other than antivirals tend to delay seroconversion? Wondering if consumption of alcohol, poor sleep could contribute to a delay?
Nothing else, no
– How much longer should I wait for another test, is there a period of time after which I can be very certain of the commercial IGG test results?
This is as good as it is going to get with the IgG test.
– I’ve heard you mention that the HSV2 IGG misses 8% of HSV2 infections. Does this mean that it will miss the infection in 8% of people? Or that each time you take the test, you have an 8% chance of a false negative result?
Good questions, and we don’t know exactly but I would say closer to 8% of people. But I do see that when the test misses it, it misses it repeatedly in the same person.
– A couple more negative IGGs might put my mind at ease, but if not I suppose all that may be left for me soon is the blot. How long should I wait for a very definitive western blot result?
You can do that now.
Thanks Terri. I’m starting to entertain that this may have been my mind getting to me, but still not totally sure.
You’re welcome. Get the blot and put this answer behind you, one way or another.
