You likely have both HSV 1 and HSV 2. I don’t believe that you need a western blot but we can certainly do one if you would like.
A single contact with this partner is highly unlikely to result in infection. However, if you plan on continuing this, and he is open to that, it would be good if you took daily antiviral medication (reduces transmission by 48%) and he used condoms (reduces transmission by 65%) for greatest protection.
