from your experience, is there any reason other than actually having HSV-1 that would make the index a low positive (1.22)? Is there any type of medications, illnesses or reasons that a test maybe be triggered to be a false positive? I have looked endlessly online but it seems like a question that is never addressed.
The test often picks up proteins unrelated to herpes and calls them herpes. It’s a test thing, not a YOU thing
My second question is if the negative HSV-2 test is fairly accurate at roughly 8 weeks. I had a negative result at 4 and 8 weeks but I keep reading 16 weeks is the limit to test. Just trying to get an idea how accurate the CLIA test is for HSV-2 at 8 weeks.
I would say at 8 weeks, it picks up close to 80% of infections, compared to western blot
