that’s very interesting. Someone with a cold sore or just testing positive for HSV 1 must have kissed your child and then you must not have been previously infected with HSV 1 for all this to happen. It sounds quite unpleasant to me.
Your baby already has HSV 1 so I see no issue in continuing to breastfeed this baby.
Now that he is infected orally, it is extremely unlikely that he would get this in a new location so I wouldn’t worry about you transmitting whitlow to him in a new location, after he’s been infected for about 3 months.
