I now have 114 patients who test positive on the LabCorp IgG test as well as testing positive on their supplemental test but are negative by western blood. Do not believe this result for a moment until confirmatory testing with Western blot is done. It could definitely be a false positive.
Sometimes when people have a high HSV one index value like you do, there can be some cross-reactivity with HSV-2. It happens more often than we would like to admit with this test.
Please do not except this result. You can obtain your herpes western blot kit from the University of Washington and it will be sent to you. You can call them at 206-685-6066 they will send it to you. You can work with your own provider to obtain this test order or you can work with me. But you need the western blot to clarify.
