I thank two things are going on here. It is likely that the thing that the doctor thought was a hairball that tested positive for herpes was indeed a herpes outbreak. And then, they went on to treat it as a ward with trichloracetic acid which definitely would cause little bubbly bumps in many people it was an error to treated as a wart but the treatment caused some side effects. It sounds to me like maybe you have new herpes. When a swab test is positive but the antibody test is negative, that usually indicates a new infection. Virus is present on your skin but not enough time has gone by for you to develop an immune response called antibody.
I think it would be important at this point to have your partner get an antibody test. She may well have an established herpes infection and not know it. Has anyone had another new partner either you or her in the past month or so?
