I’m so sorry that you’re having such a difficult time with this. Would it be possible for you to ask your ex partner to get an antibody test? I was suggest that you offer to pay for it and facilitate it in anyway that’s possible. If your ex partner is negative for HSV-2, then you could do the western blot now. LabCorp always does a supplemental test on people who have an index value between 1.1 and 5.0. It is likely that a supplemental test was done but you aren’t reporting it here.
It’s pretty normal to be upset about a new herpes diagnosis but in your case, we don’t have any evidence that that’s really true. I have 117 patients now who have had positive IgG test from LabCorp but they’re at Western blot is negative.
If you think that you just got infected the 18th or 19th of March, it’s way too early to do a western blot. Unless you can get your partner to test, and they are negative, you’re going to have to wait a while to get the blot – 12 weeks. You could repeat the IgG test in six weeks and see where it’s going.
