And I would agree that it is very likely that you are dealing with something else entirely. In addition, shingles would very very rarely be on your knee alone and swab tested should have been done to determine what this actually was.
I would again very strongly encourage you to have swab testing done of symptoms that you think are related to HSV 1 infection so you can know for sure if that is the cause – I doubt it
