Once you have HSV one infection in one location – in your case your mouth – it is extremely unlikely you would ever get it in a new location.
I’m not sure if you’re saying that you broke up with your boyfriend because you think he might have given you HSV-1 generally or because you are afraid of giving him HSV one genitally.
It sounds to me like he’s been very willing to take that risk so I’m a little bit confused by your post.
