Your HSV 1 is a solid positive, but your HSV 2 is unclear. We have seen false positive inhibition assays (positive on IA but negative on western blot), so I’m not clear that I would believe that quite yet – but your call, of course. I personally would never rely upon this test as the final answer. Also, the IgG test misses 30% of HSV 1 infection so your wife may or may not be infected.
The western blot is your best answer if you want the best and final word on your HSV 2 status.
Also, if you do have HSV 2 but have not passed it to your wife in 25 years, you certainly aren’t shedding the virus very often. Same is true for your HSV 1 infection.
And yes, if you truly are positive for HSV 2, you could have been infected years ago, but I’m still skeptical of your result.
