My personal opinion is that you don’t have HSV-2 infection at all. And if you did, it would be genital not oral with a very high degree of certainty. I think you need to do the western blot. You were going to worry about this for a long time unless you get a clear answer. Any other confirmatory test is substandard compared to the western blot so I certainly wouldn’t pay $400 to do anything unless it’s the western blot.
