1) am I a risk to a partner confirmed with OSHV1?
We believe that it would be extremely unusual for someone with oral HSV one to subsequently acquire genital HSV 1
2) do I need to wait a certain amount of time post exposure to have sex with a OHSV1 positive partner?
no
3) is it necessary to disclose to a confirmed OHSV1 positive partner?
I don’t believe that it is.
4) At this stage, would I be of great risk for genital spread to a negative HSV1 partner or would genital to oral infection be the main concern?
Since you have a new infection, you will be shedding virus on about 15 out of 100 days until you’ve been infected for about six months at which point you will be shedding about half of that. We don’t have data on whether the risk is greater for someone you are having intercourse with who is not positive for HSV one or to someone who gives you oral sex who is not infected with HSV one.
