I’ve certainly have seen results at high be false positives yes. Part of my assessment of whether this is legitimate would depend upon the number of sexual partners that you’ve had in your lifetime and the frequency with which you use condoms for every intercourse. I won’t tell you that false positives at nine or common but honestly, I’m not sure because I rarely see people doing western blot to have those high positive but I’ve certainly seen many of them come back with a negative western blot. It’s really your call about how certain you want to be here but if it was me and I knew this was a lifelong issue, I probably would want the best possible test.
You can work with your own provider and the kit from the University of Washington to do this test or you can work with me it really doesn’t matter. If you can see your provider under an insurance plan and they are willing to sign for the western blot, that would certainly be the most cost-effective way to do this
