Valtrex does not hide the virus on testing. The only time we are concerned about the impact of Valtrex on testing is when someone gets a brand new herpes infection, takes Valtrex for an extended period of time, immediately starting with the new outbreak without ever having a positive test of any kind. In that instance, the medicine can impact an antibody test by actively suppressing any virus it’s around which then inhibits the immune system from seeing the virus and subsequently, no antibodies made because no viruses scene because the Valtrex has suppressed it.
Because you have HSV-2 orally and I’ve had it for a long time, it is very unlikely that you would subsequently get the same virus in a new location on your body.
