Terri,
I am confused more than ever and I hope you’ll be able to provide some insight.
On 4/24 (45 days post exposure), I went back to the gyno office that took my blood the first time (the value that was 4.69AI). I’ve been calling them non-stop and they finally posted my results to my portal.
It indicates that they received the results on 5/1 with the following tests:
1) Herpes Simplex Virus 1/2 IgG w/ Reflex to HSV-2 Inhibition:
HSV 1 (IgG) Val. <0.90 INDEX
HSV 2 (IgG) Val. 2.12 INDEX
OCCASIONALLY, A POSITIVE HSV2 IGG TEST MAY NOT CONFIRM WITH THE INHIBITION STUDY. ADVISE WAITING FOR THE INHIBITION TEST RESULT BEFORE INITIATING THERAPY OR GUIDANCE.
2) HSV-2 IgG Inhibition, IA
VAL. SEE NOTE
The HSV-2 IgG screening assay was repeated on a different platform as part of the inhibition test, and the result was negative; thus the Inhibition result could not be determined. Most samples exhibiting this type of discrepancy have initial HSV-2 IgG index values of 1.10-3.00. If early HSV-2 infection is suspected, submission of another sample collected 2-3 weeks after this sample is recommended.
These test results come from Quest Diagnostics if that helps any.
1) How could my antibody count go from 4.69 (different lab), to 4.74 (this result was from a Quest lab) down to 2.12 with a negative inhibition test?? I was lost before but now I feel REALLY lost. I’ve been trying to contact my gynecologist office to have someone speak to me but they’re literally useless and aren’t answering my calls.
2) As of today, I am 59 days post exposure with no itching, burning, sores, etc. (but still occasionally have that weird throbbing/twitch). What should I do? Do I do another inhibition test or do I skip that test completely and go straight to doing a western blot test? If I do the western blot, when should I do that based on my exposure from 3/10.
I’m sorry this post is extremely long but I just don’t know what to make of any of this. Please help me.
