You can certainly have a swab taken without any visible symptoms – that’s how we know about asymptomatic shedding.
It’s great that you had two negative swab tests, this suggests that perhaps this tingling is NOT herpetic. Once you have HSV in one location on your body, it would be unlikely to ever get it in a new location.
I don’t agree with your pediatrician or PCP – there is much literature to support these meds’ safety, but your call. I think a week, at least, to see if it impacts tingling would be good.
