1) Is it possible that the second test could come back negative? Or am I just hoping for indeterminate at best?
I suspect it will be intederminate again.
2) If indeterminate again, what is the reasonable explanation for continuous indeterminate? And is there authoritative literature that I can reference if I need to have a discussion about this with a potential partner? Also, how do I prove WB is the gold standard?
The explanation is that you still have that random protein in your blood.
3) What does nonspecific immune response mean? And is this most likely what’s causing my issue?
Yes, you have an antibody protein that is not related to herpes alone but can show up with other viral infections.
4) Instructions on results say no sooner than 3 months apart. Test description on UW website says “For accurate seroconversion determination, the acute and convalescent samples should be drawn at least 12 – 16 weeks apart.” I want to get this done as soon as possible, but do not want to ruin it in haste. Is 12 weeks acceptable?
12 weeks for the second draw is acceptable, yes
